Maybe it’s the summer air, but lately I’m inspired by everything bohemian; especially bohemian with a sleek/upgraded twist. In our new house, I’m trying to mash together modern, rustic, and bohemian – and though we’re working in baby steps – so far I think (hope) it’s working. This family home, has that aesthetic nailed. (And I’m saving every bit of it to my New Home Pinterest board, stat.) A bit of background: lifestyle site, The Beetle Shack, shares these great family homes in a Family Home Project series – a beautiful look at real, lived in family homes – and in truth, they’re all just great. This one in particular, though – home toLevi (business owner), Claudia (full time mummy + food stylist) and Eve Indigo (almost 2 year old) – really caught my attention, with it’s bohemian vibe, slick black-washed wood floors, walls of books, and rustic touches.
Subway tiles, a chalkboard wall, copper pots and pans and wood bowls – this is basically my foodie dream kitchen.
Doesn’t this home tour make you want to buy dozens of indoor plants?
Claudia describes her home’s styles as “70’s bohemian era, natural textures and country style living.” She explains: “I’m drawn to functional, creative spaces. I love white walls, woven materials, wood and a lot of greenery. It’s what suits this house, and I’ve committed to it. I think it’s important to know what style you like, but also make sure it suits the type of house you’re living in. Also, everything needs to serve a purpose. We use a lot of open shelving, and it’s for convenience more than anything else. I also want to make sure our home is child-friendly with a lot of play space for Eve, there’s not really anything on display that she’s not allowed to touch. It’s her domain as much as ours.”
I love that.
